Sometime it’s fun to calculate such things but sometime it’s important to know how much time it would take you to cover few miles so you can plan your work according to that.
I know I know you might be thinking why do we need this calculator, we can simply go to Google Maps and put the destinations and it will show how much time will it take to cover the distance. But my dear friend, google Maps doesn’t have a cycle option it has a motorcycle option.
BTW Google uses the average speed of 10 miles/h but in our calculator, you can adjust the speed till 20 miles per hour. Google Maps tell real-time timings but our calculator does not. This is a small comparison between our programme and Google Maps 😅.
Why I Made This Calculator?
While I was researching for the article topic for EV’s Guide, I saw Reddit posts and Quora posts on “how long does it take to travel this many miles, how much time it will take to cover (X) distance and so on. TBH, I don’t want to spam my website with multiple articles on the same topic. So I came up with an idea why not create a calculator that will tell you how much time it will take to cover X number of miles?
I started coding and built this calculator which gives results close to real-life timings.
Biking Time Calculator
Estimated Time: 9 - 13
Factors Affecting Biking Time
There are a few factors which affect travelling time:
1. Speed
Average biking speed is around 10km/h casually but if you do intense then it can go 20km/h but it won’t last much but having throttle or PAS can make it easy and help in reducing travelling time.
2. Terrain
Terrain definitely affects the travelling time because riding on a hilly terrain takes more effort thus it will take more time to travel, same with rough terrains but on plain traffic-free roads takes less time as average speed goes up comparatively.
3. Weather Condition
Wet roads, icy roads & snowy roads increase the average biking time because the rider has to bike carefully so they can not meet an accident and reach home safely.
4. Biker’s Fitness Level
Grandpaa’s and Grandmaa’s biking speed is generally lower than average thus it makes their travel time higher. If rider fitness level is top notch then they can easily manage to get more than average speed.
FAQs
Q1. What is a good average biking speed?
Ans. 10km/h is considered to be a good speed.
Q2. How can I calculate my biking speed?
Ans. You can use Google Maps to see your speed or you can download the odometer app from playstore to check your live speed.
Q3. How many miles should I bike a day?
Ans. Well, it’s totally depends on the strength of an individual but according to me doing 20 km is a good number. If it’s less then you can surely increase the km.
Q4. how long does it take to bike a mile?
Ans. On an average, it takes 6 minutes to cover miles. Rest you can multiply the number of miles with 6 minutes to get the answer.
My Sayings on This
I just want to sum up multiple queries in a single post and I came up with the idea biking time travel calculator. I’m really seeking your feedback so I can make this calculator more efficient.
I hope this article helped you to understand approximately how much time it takes to travel any distance. I have made one more calculator to know how far you can go on a single charge in an ebike.
Thank You!
