E-Bike Battery Mounting Ideas

Best ebike battery mounting ideas

I have never built it, nor did I ever get it made but I have heard this from my friend who has converted his bike into an ebike and told me mounting the battery on an ebike is a tricky task and the battery rarely gets mounted easily in one go.

Here are a few common queries that people ask too frequently on the internet: should I mount the battery inside the triangle, under the triangle, above the top tube, or put it on the rear rack?

After consulting with my friend, I learned that ideally, you should place it on your down tube because that’s the best place to have your battery mounted.

Well, you don’t need to worry I can surely give you guys some ideas about where you can put the battery on your bike.

6 Amazing Battery Mounting Ideas

Here I have shared 6 fantastic ideas for mounting battery on your converted ebike.

1. Water Bottle Battery Mount (Best)

It is the most ideal place to put your battery because it’s going to be more secure and it’s gonna be protected from the underside from dirt but for the most part you’re gonna get some spray possibly. Another good part is it keeps your centre of gravity low.

2. Rear Rack Mount

I only recommend this when you can mount the battery under the frame or down-tube. TBH that’s not ideal, your centre of gravity is gonna be weird and if you ride through curbs and jumps, I’ve seen it get loose and chances are very high that it may fall. If you do off-roading quite frequently then don’t do it.

3. Under-Frame Mount

It’s just another version of Bottle Mount. You can place the battery underneath. Ideally, that’s actually the best in theory because it lowers your centre of gravity even more. However, it’s more vulnerable because any road debris is going to throw rocks and gravel up on it and water, you don’t want moisture to get in there.

4. Triangle Bag Mount

I have seen many people prefer putting a battery pack inside the triangle frame because it balances the weight quite well. It may look ugly but it’s also a nice place to mount the battery. People generally use this place when they are unable to put it in a water bottle place or under the seat.

5. Saddle Bag Mount (Best)

If you have a small battery, putting it under the saddle is a good choice because it’s not throwing your centre of gravity at all. However, if you put a battery under there you have to go with a really small battery pack usually 6 to 7 amp hours. So, you not gonna get a big range with that.

You can put it into a little tool bag so that it doesn’t look like anything. It will look normal bike at that point.

6. Front Cargo

Usually, people don’t prefer to put the battery in the front of their bike but one who doesn’t have any option or weird bike structure needs to put their battery pack in the front.

But there is an advantage to this, you can put a bigger battery which means a longer range. Well, I have made a calculator which might help you to calculate how long you can travel.
